harmony

A song with the name “Cacophonous vibes” sounded like something that isn’t great – too “vibey”, too racket-y was our guess. But this tune by Melbourne band Harmony is nothing like that. It’s dirty, mellow and lovely-sounding classic gutter blues. Sam Cooke melodies meets The Doors meets the Bad Seeds. Great tune. It’s yours via the band’s bandcamp for $3 - a bargain for a song that’s got guaranteed multi-play potential.

bitch prefect

Liam Kenny, Pat Telfer and Scott O'Hara make up Australian band Bitch Prefect. “Bad Decisions” is the best / worst slacker-pop track of the year so far. It ‘s got the exact vibe of something written by mates in a garage: super laidback and unpretentious and artless. Great little tunes.

Craft Spells

Craft Spells; Another great band on Captured Tracks meticulously curated stable of artists. We love this tune because it is like a surf guitar version of Joy Division. There’s a wistful and melancholic sweetness to this song that is both heartbreaking and uplifting.

the boats

Byron Bay is an idyllic, terminally chill coastal town on the east coast of Australia and the place where three-piece The Boats hail from. Instead of poorly attempting to singularize their tunes with our own words, we’ll give you the list of tag words/phrases from their bandcamp page, which pretty much sums up the vibe: girls smiles surf teenage waves clean airy sound fun lo fi pop songs. If that sounds like your cup of tea take a listen to their EP now, and if it isn’t your cup of tea… well, may god have mercy on your black black soul.

filardo - enter the edit suite

A wonderful new album from Phoenix/Portland outfit, Filardo, headed by artist Tom Filardo. It’s packed with classic and not-so-classic pop, lounge and krautrock sounds. Think Beach boys, Dr. Dog, Yo Le Tango with a dash of Ween. Really interesting, quality stuff.
Head over to their Bandcamp to download it for Free.
